30 Days of Women and Herbs – Frauendreissiger – Nr. 23

Odermennig(Deutsche Version unter der Englischen)

Agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria)
In antiquity, Agrimony was still used for all kinds of infectious intestinal ailments, and by skin ulcers that wouldn’t heal easily.

Later, the herb was added in the “witches cream,” although the plant has only very light hallucinogenic components.

Today, Agrimony is usually added to tea mixtures.

But people definitely attributed magical qualities, as expressed in the following advice:

Digging for Vervain, Agrimony, Gentian
On Good Friday helps you a lot,
That the women become dainty,
But don’t use iron, dig with gold.

Deutsche Version

Odermennig (Agrimonia eupatoria)

Verbeen (Eisenkraut), agrimonia (Odermennig), modelgeer (Enzian)
Charfreytags graben hilfft dich sehr
Daß dir die frawen werden holdt,
Doch brauch kein eisen, grabs mit goldt
